Almada
In past centuries, Almada was a summer resort sought by the court, who ordered the construction of some buildings and noble houses that still remain in the city.
Today, Almada is a city that maintains a growth, whose rhythm has been accentuated since the inauguration of the Bridge over the Tagus river in 1966, which facilitated access between the two banks. However, Almada does not only live because of the capital where most of its inhabitants work, it is a city with a life of its own, a stage for important events such as the Theater Festival.
To the municipality of Almada also belongs the Costa da Caparica region, which is much sought after during the summer season by the inhabitants of Lisbon, who are seduced by its long sandy beaches. A special highlight is the gastronomy of the area, where you can taste delicious fresh fish stews, typical of places like Cacilhas, Porto Brandão, Ginjal or Costa da Caparica.
